The Pah Homestead

Conservation and adaptive re-use of the 1887 historic Pah homestead to house the TSB Bank Wallace Arts Centre. Structural upgrading was undertaken; fire protection, air-conditioning, security and lighting were fitted, and original features were carefully restored by specialist conservators. New elements include café fittings, wall panelling in gallery spaces, a lift and storage facility. The garden was conserved and rebuilt based on an understanding of its earlier design. In 2010 the project was awarded an NZIA Auckland Branch heritage award.
